What the service includes

  • pushing back and clearing snow from building entrances

  • a contract or flat fee for the whole winter with agreed call-out terms

Where we clear snow

We only offer winter maintenance where we are close by. Our base is in Brno-Bystrc, on Hvozdecká street, so we only clear snow in Bystrc and the neighbouring districts in the west of Brno.

We do not currently offer snow clearing in other parts of the city. There, however, we can help you with apartment building cleaning, window cleaning or machine cleaning of floors and garages.

Who we clear snow for

Owners’ associations (SVJ) and housing cooperatives. The committee of an owners’ association needs residents to get safely from the building to the pavement, to the bins and to the garage in winter. That is why we agree snow clearing for the specific areas that belong to the building or that the association looks after.

Property managers. If you manage several buildings in Bystrc and nearby, we can arrange snow clearing for all of them at once, with the areas at each building clearly described.

Companies and institutions. We clear snow from car parks, driveways and entrances of companies, business premises and public buildings, so that staff, customers and delivery vans can arrive safely.

What snow removal includes

We push back and clear snow from the areas you entrust to us in the contract:

Entrances and pavements

We clear snow from building entrances, from the steps in front of the door and from pavements and paths leading to the building. These are the routes people use most, often in the morning and in the dark.

Car parks and driveways

We clear snow from car parks, from driveways to garages and from access roads to buildings. We agree in advance where the snow will be pushed, so that it does not bury cars, the entrance or the drains.

A contract for the whole winter

We arrange snow clearing for the whole winter, with a contract or a flat fee. The contract sets out the areas, the call-out terms and how we keep in touch during the season. You do not have to order anything or call anyone after each snowfall. At the start of winter you know what to expect from us, and at the end of the season it is clear how the winter will be billed.

What we look at before winter

Every area is different, so in the autumn we walk it with you on site. We find out where there are kerbs, manhole covers, planters or low walls that cannot be seen under the snow. We agree where the snow may be pushed. And we clarify which areas belong to the building and which do not.

At apartment buildings, winter is mainly about the route from the entrance to the pavement, to the bins and to the garages. We therefore describe these stretches in the contract as precisely as possible, so it is clear where people walk.

Snow clearing for companies and institutions

Companies and public buildings usually need larger areas kept clear: car parks for staff, driveways for deliveries and entrances for visitors. Before winter we decide together which of them you want included in the contract.

If your car park has reserved spaces or spaces for deliveries, let us know during the site visit. We will then not push snow where it would get in the way.

Responsibility for pavements

Who is responsible for keeping a pavement passable, and for damage caused by its poor condition, is set out in Section 27 of the Czech Act No. 13/1997 Coll., on Roads (in Czech). It also depends on who owns the land. Many city districts publish their winter maintenance plan, which shows which pavements and paths the municipality looks after, for example Brno-Komín or Brno-Jundrov (both in Czech).

We do not give legal advice. We recommend checking responsibility for specific areas with your property manager or at your district office. We then take care of the areas you entrust to us in the contract.

What we need from you

  • a list of the areas you want kept clear in winter,
  • a contact person from the committee, the property manager or the company,
  • information on where snow may be pushed and where cars park,
  • access to areas behind gates or barriers, if there are any.

We are happy to prepare a notice for the residents’ noticeboard explaining how snow clearing at the building works.

How we keep an eye on quality

The yardstick is the contract: whatever is in it, we clear after a snowfall. If something after a snowfall does not match the contract, let us know and we will agree how to put it right. If you want to change something for next winter, such as adding an area, we will update the contract together.

What you gain

With snow removal arranged in advance, you do not have to work out after every snowfall who will pick up the shovel. Residents, staff and visitors can reach the building more safely. We take care of the areas entrusted to us in the contract.

What the price depends on is explained on our page about tailored cleaning prices. Ideally, secure your winter in the autumn by sending us a no-obligation request for a quote.

How we work together

  1. Your request before the season

Ideally get in touch in the autumn. Send us the address and tell us which areas you want kept clear in winter: entrances, pavements, car parks, driveways.

  2. Site visit

We walk the areas with you and agree where the snow will be pushed, and where there are kerbs, manhole covers and other obstacles that cannot be seen under the snow.

  3. Winter contract

We draw up a contract or flat fee for the whole winter: which areas we look after, on what terms we turn out and how we keep in touch during the season.

  4. Snow clearing

When snow falls, we turn out according to the terms of the contract and clear it from the areas entrusted to us.

What affects the price

We prepare a tailored price once the scope is clear. It mainly depends on:

  • the size and number of areas to be kept clear
  • which areas we look after (entrances, pavements, car parks, driveways)
  • the call-out terms agreed in the contract
  • a flat fee for the whole winter, or another way of billing set out in the contract

How we put together a cleaning quote

What our customers say

  • GaRiK cleans the common areas of our owners’ association. That means three apartment buildings with 45 flats in total. They clean twice a week, they also clean our garages, and in winter they take care of snow clearing. The cleaning is always done exactly according to the agreed schedule and to a very high standard. If you keep running into problems with cleaning in your building, I can recommend GaRiK for its reliability and professionalism.

Frequently asked questions

In which parts of Brno do you clear snow?

Only in Bystrc, Žebětín, Kníničky, Komín, Kohoutovice, Žabovřesky and Jundrov. We are based in Bystrc and only offer snow clearing where we are close by. In other parts of Brno we are happy to help with our other services.

When should we arrange snow removal?

Ideally in the autumn, before the first snow. That way we know well ahead of winter which areas we look after, and we can walk them in advance. If you get in touch during the winter, just ask and we will see what we can arrange.

Does the car park have to be empty when you clear the snow?

No, but we cannot clear the space under parked cars or right next to them. The fewer cars there are on the area after a snowfall, the more snow we can clear. So it helps to ask residents or staff not to park in winter on the areas where snow is being cleared.

How does an owners’ association keep in touch with you during the winter?

At the start of the season we exchange contact details. We use them to deal with anything unusual, such as a heavy snowfall or cars parked on an area we are meant to clear.

What if there is hardly any snow all winter?

We cover that in the contract. We agree in advance whether the winter is billed as a flat fee or in another way, and what happens in a winter with little snow and in one with frequent snowfalls.

Can you combine snow clearing with regular cleaning of the building?

Yes. You can have snow clearing together with regular cleaning of the building’s common areas. Then you have one company for the whole year that knows your building.

Would you like a no-obligation quote?

Tell us what needs cleaning or give us a call. The consultation is free and we will tailor the quote to your needs.
