Tenement and apartment building cleaning in central Brno

In Brno-střed, the city centre district, historic tenements stand next to prefab estates and modern high-rise buildings, and we adapt the cleaning to each of them. Besides the common areas, we also offer owners’ associations and property managers window and shopfront cleaning.

Historic centre, Veveří, Staré Brno and Štýřice

The Brno-střed district covers the historic city centre, Staré Brno, Stránice, Štýřice and Veveří, plus parts of Pisárky, Trnitá, Zábrdovice and Černá Pole. Most of it lies between the Svratka and Svitava rivers, and more than 64,000 people live here. Its landmarks are the Cathedral of St Peter and Paul on Petrov hill and Špilberk Castle.

The buildings stand close together but vary a great deal in age: next to the oldest houses of the historic centre there are modern high-rises and prefab estates. During a visit we therefore first want to know how old the building is and what its floors and stairs are made of.

  • Veveří: multi-storey, mostly historic buildings directly adjoining the old centre. The 2021 census counted over 20,000 residents, and the area also includes Kraví hora with its observatory.
  • Staré Brno: apartment buildings of three to six storeys interspersed with shopping centres, shops and restaurants. Mendlovo náměstí is its heart, and St Anne’s University Hospital is here too.
  • Štýřice: older houses in the north, a prefab estate in the middle and, in the north-west, Kamenná kolonie, a former workers’ colony from the interwar years.

Prefab blocks are not limited to Štýřice. When Staré Brno was rebuilt in 1962–1965, the Staré Brno-sever estate went up as well, so even in the centre you will find buildings with lifts and long corridors.

Original tiles and staircases in older buildings

Older buildings may still have their original tiles, stone or terrazzo staircases and wooden banisters. Such surfaces do not tolerate every cleaning product, and no amount of cleaning will repair a damaged surface. So we first ask what the building has been cleaned with so far and test any new product on an inconspicuous spot, such as a corner of a landing. We only use it on the whole staircase once it has passed the test, and we treat original front doors with the same care.

Buildings, windows and offices in Brno-střed

We clean apartment buildings in Brno-střed and also offer:

Brno-střed is the administrative, economic and cultural centre of the city. It is home to many public offices, schools and companies, and there are a lot of shops. In Štýřice, around Heršpická street, business parks and office buildings have also gone up in recent years. That is why we offer office cleaning both to companies in historic buildings and to those in the new ones.

From Bystrc to the centre

We drive to the centre from our base on Hvozdecká street in Brno-Bystrc, just as we do to every other building we clean. Not far from the centre we also look after apartment buildings in Žabovřesky, Královo Pole, Bohunice and Jundrov. Describe your building in a no-obligation request: how many floors it has, what the staircase is made of and what is on the ground floor. We will suggest a scope of cleaning and prepare a quote free of charge.

What we look out for in Brno-střed

  • Art Nouveau houses on Konečného náměstí

Konečného náměstí in Veveří is lined with grand Art Nouveau apartment houses, dominated by the Tivoli block on the corner of Jiráskova street. We also offer buildings like these regular cleaning of stairwells and corridors and, by arrangement, window cleaning.

  • Masarykova čtvrť on the hillsides

Stránice largely coincides with Masarykova čtvrť (the Masaryk Quarter), which began to take shape before 1918 as a district for civil servants. On the slopes of Žlutý kopec and Kraví hora there are villas and apartment houses, often with small gardens around them.

Cleaning in Brno-střed: frequently asked questions

Our city centre building has a shop and an office on the ground floor. Who orders their cleaning?

The owners’ association (SVJ) orders cleaning of the common areas. Shopfront washing or office cleaning is ordered and paid for separately by the tenant or the owner of the business, so it is always clear who pays for what. For everything to do with cleaning the building, the committee then deals with one person at our company.

Our Staré Brno building has an archway through to the courtyard. Can both be included?

Yes, if we agree on it with the committee. We look at the archway and the courtyard during the visit and write into the contract what we will do there and how often.

What if a new cleaning product fails the test on the original tiles of an Art Nouveau house?

Then we will not use it on the staircase and will try a different, gentler one. If we are still not sure, we will tell you straight away and suggest how to look after the tiles without risking damage.

Would you like a no-obligation quote?

Tell us what needs cleaning or give us a call. The consultation is free and we will tailor the quote to your needs.
